Fans of Harry Potter have been eagerly awaiting any news about the upcoming TV series based on the iconic books. After months of speculation, they’ve finally received some exciting updates.

Filming set to Begin in 2025

At the Max Showcase in London, the showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod (both of whom worked on Succession) revealed that production will kick off in mid-2025 at the famous Leavesden Studios in the UK. This location, which was the setting for the original Harry Potter films, promises to bring an authentic feel to the new series.

Casting News: Over 32,000 Auditions for Harry Potter

One of the most anticipated aspects of the show is the casting of Harry Potter. Gardiner and Mylod shared that over 32,000 video auditions have been submitted for the lead role. They are committed to reviewing every single one. Mylod shared that their team is watching up to 1,000 videos a day, showing how seriously they are taking this important decision.

A Bigger Canvas for the Story

Gardiner and Mylod also explained that adapting the seven Harry Potter books into a TV series gives them more room to explore the rich world J.K. Rowling created. Unlike the films, which condensed the story into two hours, the series will allow them to dive deeper into the characters and plot.

With production slated to start soon, Harry Potter fans can look forward to the return to Hogwarts, likely in 2026 or 2027, on HBO’s Max streaming service.
