You might be seeing these ‘selfies’ popping up everywhere on your socials and be wondering, where are they coming from?
Well the app is called Lensa AI and it works by you uploading 10-20 photos of yourself which then allows the app to create AI-generated selfies.
I spent like five minutes and found dozens of AI generated Lensa images with fucked up "signatures" in the corners. So they're not even trying to hide that all this shit is just pulling from real artists real work, huh? https://t.co/c38KCvCHgT pic.twitter.com/3ucAb0CoJS

Now the worrying thing about this app is their Terms and Conditions which you could be forgiven for not reading, because lets be honest, who does.
So we’ve done all the reading for you and here are the parts that may concern you, by uploading your photos you therefore agree to the ‘company license’, which potentially gives the app permission to use your photos in anyway they want.
Lensa’s conditions say that, “Lensa may allow you to upload, edit, create, store and share content, including photos and videos (User Content”).

“We do not claim ownership over your User Content. However, in order to provide you with the services (e.g., to make our services accessible to you), we seek a legal permission from you to use your User Content.”
“You give us such a permission by means of a Company License, as defined below.”
It goes onto say that, “Solely for the purposes of operating or improving Lensa, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully-paid, transferable, sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, create derivative works of your User Content, without any additional compensation to you and always subject to your additional explicit consent for such use where required by applicable law and as stated in our Privacy Policy (the “Company License”).
Ok I’ve been seeing people posting about the privacy issues with Lensa AI, and I thought I’d share some helpful tidbits from the TOS and privacy notice:

1. You’re helping them train their AI
2. They convert your photos to face data, which they claim to not retain BUT if you worry
But, there is some good news, you can terminate your agreement to these terms at any point in time by deleting the content from the app or deleting your account.
You can also contact the company at anytime to do the same on ‘[email protected]’.
