A 36-year-old woman has been charged after a single-vehicle crash north of Bega on Friday, December 6, left her passenger with severe leg injuries.
Emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, near Brogo shortly after 7:10pm, where an SUV had hit a guard rail and rolled. The crash resulted in the 41-year-old male passenger being thrown from the vehicle. Paramedics treated him for serious leg injuries, while the driver was also assessed before both were taken to South East Regional Hospital in Bega.
Police seized the vehicle for forensic examination and established a crime scene.
Upon her release from hospital on Tuesday, December 10, the woman was arrested and taken to Bega Police Station where she was charged with dangerous and negligent driving, unlicensed operation of the vehicle, and failing to ensure her passenger wore a seatbelt.
She was refused bail and will appear at Bega Local Court on Tuesday, December 17.
