A training session for the Marine Rescue NSW Batemans Bay Unit members yesterday turned into the real thing.

The volunteers were returning from a training exercise in the Clyde River for further on-water familiarization when they came across an upturned kayak.

As they approached they came across the owner in the water struggling to re-board the thing after falling out.

They pulled him aboard BM30 and returned him safely to shore.

Crew members then assisted with emptying the water from the kayak and drove the owner to get his vehicle from the beach where they launched.
