Member for Bega Dr Michael Holland said the launch of the iHeart Far South Coast podcast was great news for the Far South Coast community.

“It’s so important that people in regional parts of NSW like ours, have access to a diverse range of local news and content, so our government is focuses on supporting this into the future,” Dr Holland said.

“It’s going to improve the sustainability of our regionally focused media and news gathering organisations.”

ARN Journalist based on the Far South Coast, James Fennessy said it’s a podcast designed for locals.

“We want locals to really get behind this,” Fennessy said.

“If people are after something they can listen to once a week, on demand whenever and wherever they may be, all they need is an Internet connection, and the iHeart Radio App on their phone and they can do that.”

The very first episode of iHeart Far South Coast looks back at the search and rescue operation for a missing diver off the coast of Beowa National Park just north of Eden back in June 2023.

We catch up with a number of people involved in the search including Glenn Sullivan from Marine Rescue NSW.

“Unfortunately if we don’t find them on that one day, the chances of finding them is somewhat reduced,” Inspector Sullivan said.

If you know the story or not, it’s worth tuning in to iHeart Far South Coast to find out more about what happened behind the scenes of this search and rescue mission.
