The new $330 million Eurobodalla Regional Hospital is taking shape, with the first concrete slab now poured.

Bega MP, Michael Holland, said construction, which began in June last year, is progressing well and meeting key milestones.

“It’s very exciting to see the significant progress being made on the new hospital, which will soon provide more health services and more specialist care for our community.

“I’m pleased to see the new paediatrics and maternity units taking shape, which will support elevated healthcare for families in the Eurobodalla, enabling and offering an enhanced level of service and care to our community.”

The hospital will feature the region’s first paediatrics department, a modern maternity unit, intensive care, and an MRI service. While radiotherapy services are not included in the initial plans, Dr Holland confirmed the facility is being built to accommodate it in the future.

“I’ve committed to opening a Level 4 Eurobodalla Hospital in 2027, I did not commit to opening it with radiation oncology, but if we can achieve the funding through negotiations with the federal minister and the NSW Ministry for Health, the space is there to start that work, even potentially before the hospital is completed or to commence it after opening.”

Work on a new roundabout on the Princes Highway, improving access to the hospital, is set to begin soon. To ensure the safety of workers and motorists, temporary traffic conditions will be in place during this period, with work expected to be completed late 2025 and the hospital expected to be completed by late 2027.

Minister for Health Ryan Park said the NSW Government was investing in the future of our local communities by delivering this critical health infrastructure project which will support the healthcare needs of the entire Eurobodalla Shire.

“The new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital will be larger than both Moruya and Batemans Bay hospitals combined and has been designed with the capacity to grow as demand for health services changes.”

Multiplex Constructions was awarded the main works contract to deliver the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital, which will provide the community with a range of expanded and contemporary health services.
