A temporary stay of execution for a much loved playground in the Merimbula C-B-D.
Business owners have spoken out in protest since Bega Valley Shire Council staff placed a sign on the facility’s fence advising it would be removed.
Director of Assets and Operations Ian McFarlane said the hold on works is only temporary while staff prepare a report for the April council meeting.
Deputy Mayor Mitchell Naden lodged a motion at the March meeting calling for it to be replaced with a new one.
He said it’s imperative that the playground is replaced with a new facility.
But Councillor Clair Mudaliar has told her fellow elected colleagues…this playground shouldn’t be considered in isolation.
