Eurobodalla Shire Council said it will keep the pressure up on the State Government to address the disappearing sand dunes along the back of beachside properties at Surfside.
One home has lost 12 metres of the backyard and so-called protective dunes over the past decade.
Mayor Matt Hatcher met with the impacted homeowners on-site after the latest flood warning was issued earlier this week by the SES.
He said he empathises with Surfside residents, who’s homes are under threat of flooding during high tides.
Councillor Hatcher said he agrees something needs to be done to address the disappearing sand dunes.
He said the science around changing water movement patterns in Batemans Bay needs to be reviewed before a decision is made about dune renourishment.
“We have been working with the Coastal Management Plan, which was adopted by council some time ago and the State Government,” he said.
“Clearly it’s time to act. We’ve got to there. We’ll continue to work with the Minister and hopefully we can get there.”
