The ‘Kingy’ reportedly measuring a whopping 1.4 metres, with no reported weights, one local fisherman posted to Facebook, speculating “Gotta (sic) be around the 20-25kg mark.”

The largest Kingfish commonly caught are around 1 metre long, weighing 10-15kg but they can grow up to 2 metres in length with a maximum weight of around of 70kg.

Casey reportedly told locals he was thrilled with the catch and he would be returning to fish off the wharf again.

Kingfish occur in ocean waters from Queensland south to Western Australia, and inhabit temperate waters worldwide.

They’re often found associated with floating objects in the ocean and pylons and jetties within bays and are taken semi-regularly from wharfs in Tathra and Merimbula on the Far South Coast.
