Funding promise for Marine Rescue NSW at Narooma

A big boost is on the way for marine rescues at Narooma if there is a change of government at the upcoming Federal Election.

Liberal Eden-Monaro candidate Jo van der Plaat announcing almost $1-million dollars would be provided by a Dutton Government to the local Marina Rescue NSW unit.

NSW Senator Dave Sharma also attended the announcement in the town yesterday.

He said the funding would provide a much needed on-water facility for volunteers.

Liberal Candidate for Eden-Monaro, Jo van der Plaat, said this $940,000 commitment for an on-water facility will be crucial for ensuring Narooma Marine Rescue’s lifesaving and training capabilities.

“These upgrades will provide shelter, changerooms, standby facilities and importantly, space for recuperation and debrief or counselling, following a rescue,” she said.

“I want to thank everyone in our community who has helped me deliver this vital commitment for an on-water facility at Narooma Marine Rescue.”
