Couple hospitalised after Princes Highway crash

A crash on the Princes Highway at Haycock Road between Pambula and Eden has left an elderly couple hospitalised.

Emergency services responded around 11am on Sunday (December 15) after a ute and a motorhome collided.

The driver of the ute – a man in his 80’s was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

He was reportedly trapped by his feet, and required extrication by emergency services.

The passenger of the ute – a woman in her 70’s was also treated at the scene before being taken to South East Regional Hospital also in stable condition.

The occupants of the motorhome were not injured.

While the incident closed the Princes Highway for a short time, once all vehicles were removed, the roadway was cleaned and made safe, traffic reopened in both directions at approximately 1:30pm.

South Coast Police are urging drivers to stay alert during the busy festive season to avoid serious accidents.
