The oldest man in Australia who lives right here on the South Coast, has turned 110 today (August 15).

Frank Mawer, of Central Tilba, said family is by far his greatest achievement.

Frank is a proud father of six with 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and he says either three or four great-great-grandchildren.

Frank says apart from a big family zoom call over the weekend, celebrations were fairly subdued.

“Today we haven’t done much, we’ve had a birthday cake and lots of birthday cards have come in, over 21,” Frank said.

When asked if he had 110 candles on the cake he laughed and replied “not quite”.

Frank told East Coast Radio his secret to a long and healthy life is pretty simple.

“Well a lot of people won’t believe me but I don’t drink, smoke or gamble,” he said.

And in terms of advice for future generations.

“I don’t give advice, I take it,” Frank said with a laugh.

Frank has been Australia’s oldest man since July 2021 and is Australia’s second oldest person with Gwen Moore taking that title, just months away from her 111th birthday.

The whole team at East Coast Radio wish Frank a very happy 110th birthday.
