Over 1,600 homes and businesses just south of Batemans Bay are without power this morning.
Parts of Batehaven, Catalina and Sunshine Bay lost power at around 8:20am today (Wednesday December 11).
It’s unknown how long residents will be without electricity but Essential Energy crews have been dispatched and are currently investigating the unplanned outage.
Eurobodalla and Bega Valley residents face extended blackouts this month as some Essential Energy workers take industrial action over pay disputes.
More than 20 local Essential Energy workers rallied at Bega MP Michael Holland’s office on December 4, as they pushed for better pay.
The Electrical Trades Union said it would strike for up to 72 hours every week up until Christmas after recent unsuccessful pay negotiations with the State Government.
The union is looking for an 8% pay increase every year over three years.
