Eden Marine High School will reopen today (Monday December 9).
The school has been closed since last Wednesday (December 4) when a fire broke out in a classroom.
The blaze in began at the school on Barclay Street, Eden around 5am and was extinguished by staff at the school before emergency services arrived.
Officers attached to South Coast Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
South Coast Police described the fire as “suspicious” and are still investigating.
Students will return to the school in different groups over the coming week.
Years 7, 8 and 11 (and support unit) students will return to the school today, 9, 10 and 11 are due back tomorrow with 7,8,11 due on Wednesday, 9,10,11 on Thursday before all students return on Friday (December 13).
“All staff will be onsite, and Learning from Home will continue on the designated year-level days when students are not attending in person,” A spokesperson from Eden Marine High said.
“Cleaning and repair work in the affected rooms will continue this week.
“Classes scheduled to take place in the affected rooms will be relocated to available classrooms.”
