Building works on the stalled Bega Police Station project will resume in December 2024, with Patterson Building Group appointed as the new contractor.

Construction halted in March 2024 due to the former builder’s collapse, but Bega MP, Dr Michael Holland, told ARN the new station is set to be finished next year.

“Building was delayed due to the previous builder going into voluntary administration, but I’m now informed that construction will recommence next month and be completed by July 2025,” Dr Holland said.

“This is going to be a great result with a much improved facility for the local police and building a better Bega electorate.”

When it was announced in 2019, the project was expected to carry a price tag of $13 million.

A further $3 million was added so the building could incorporate a specialist crime unit with forensic services.

Former NSW Premier, Dominic Perrottet, was in Bega on Wednesday 2nd February 2022, to turn the first sod of the new $16 million Bega Police Station.
