Due to the active Coolagolite bushfire on the South Coast, the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has closed Biamanga National Park, Bermaguee Nature Reserve, Murrah Flora Reserve and Mimosa Rocks National Park.
These closures apply to all visitor areas in these parks, including the Biamanga Cultural Area, Mimosa Rocks walking track, hut and cabin accommodation and campgrounds.
These closures will give NPWS staff space to undertake ongoing fire suppression activities.
NSW Rural Fire Service, with support from NPWS, are leading the incident response for the Coolagolite bushfire with firefighters, heavy machinery and aircraft working to contain the fire.
An RFS Chinook helicopter is providing additional support to crews on the ground. The Chinook can carry 10,000 litres of water, and has short turnaround times.
NPWS apologises for any inconvenience, however the safety of national park visitors and staff is the highest priority.
All park visitors must check NPWS Alerts for up-to-date information on park conditions and closures across the state.
The more than 7000-hectare Coolagolite Road Fire is currently at Advice Level.
National Parks and the NSW Rural Fire Service are actively containing the fire which is currently being controlled, and visitors are encouraged to stay informed through NPWS Alerts and the Hazards Near Me app with the mercury set to hit 33 in Cobargo on Thursday October 12.
